Implementing fraud detection alone in your online survey won’t resolve data quality issues. It’s a start, but much more is needed.

💡
Fraud detection tools are great for catching bots and click farms, but that’s only part of the solution as they focus on the respondent level.

You also need to address the survey level by implementing:

  • A good pre-screener that respondents can’t guess or sneak past
  • Logic checks to ensure answers align
  • Attention checks throughout the survey
  • Commitment requests at the beginning of the survey
  • Speed measurement to catch speeders and outliers
  • Background data checks to match with IP
  • Open-end responses checks (against bad responses and perfect ChatGPT answers)
  • Pattern and repeating answer detection to eject bad responses
  • Ensuring respondents you catch don't come back to your surveys

Also super important, the survey experience must always be optimized to provide a great experience for respondents.

These steps are part of our daily process at Peekator. From experience, there’s no single step that will fix everything.

Multiple actions are necessary to achieve high-quality data. 🚶🏼
