The thing I really love about the market research/insights industry is that everyone works with everyone!
Literally, you'll see "competition" partnering up.
This can be a pretty big shock for people new to the industry until they see it for themselves.
You'll often see:
- Everyone buying sample from everyone
- Everyone selling sample to everyone
- Different companies handling different parts of the market research project for the same client
- Research tech companies integrating with each other
Come to some conferences and events, and you'll see "competition" drinking pints together and having a good time.
Because of this environment, it's a great space for collaboration and creative work.
Of course, there are companies playing dirty and not respecting the industry, but the market always balances it out.
It's a great message that our industry sends:
For those who want to do great work, there will always be enough work. Your only competition is yourself. Try to beat yourself, and you won't need to worry about getting work. 🚶🏼
